Ventitre01 interviews Giovanna Vinci
Il mio lavoro è un’esigenza interiore, tutt'uno con me stessa, imprescindibile. Il dipinto è un prolungamento del mio corpo o un gesto automatico di necessità; è divertimento, appagamento, benessere interiore, sperimentazione. Le forme e i colori escono dal quadro morbidi e sinuosi, a volte casuali e improvvisi, alimentando la mia vita di ogni giorno. Per far emergere la materia uso le mani, la siringa, la forchetta, ritorno bambina. I miei quadri non hanno temi ricorrenti, ma definiscono periodi di creatività e progettualità che nascono da sollecitazioni diverse e, soprattutto, evolvono durante la stessa realizzazione.
Quando e come è iniziato il suo percorso artistico ?
Sono architetto e ho amato il disegno fin da bambina. La mia sperimentazione è nata nel 2000 dall'incontro con Barcellona e con l`opera di Gaudî. A partire da quel momento ho sentito l`esigenza improrogabile di dipingere su tela e su legno.
Come è possibile descrivere il panorama artistico attuale? La pluralità di forme e la commistione di linguaggi rappresentano un aspetto da valorizzare o un elemento disturbante nella definizione della propria identità artistica?
Oggi tutto è arte e questa inclusività genera confusione. Io sento il mio percorso artistico procedere indipendentemente.
Il progetto, l’idea, vengono prima dell’opera o si sviluppano intorno ad essa?
L`idea viene prima, ma prende forma durante la realizzazione.
Qual è la sua visione del mercato dell’arte? Considera importante conoscerne le dinamiche?
Mi piacerebbe potere dipingere senza interessarmi delle dinamiche di mercato.
Qual è il suo rapporto con il pubblico?
Dal pubblico viene la possibilità di crescere e la gratificazione.
Fra le opere selezionate quale considera più riuscita?
Sono opere che considero ben riuscite, in cui identifico questa fase della mia produzione.
Quali tecniche ritiene di maggior interesse?
Acrilico materico.
Quali artisti contemporanei apprezza e/o considera vicini alla propria ispirazione?
Apprezzo diversi artisti ma mi sento vicina alla poetica di Klee.
Creating artworks is an inner need, something that I consider truly essential, a part of me. Each painting is an extension of my body or an automatic, unavoidable, gesture; it brings fun, satisfaction, personal well-being, experimentation. The shapes and the colors turn out soft and sinuous from the canvas, sometimes they come to light suddenly and unexpected, feeding my everyday life. To give shape to the material I use my own hands, syringes, forks, as a child playing. My paintings don’t explore recurring themes. They express my different periods of creativity, that may arise from different causes and surely evolve during the making phase.
When and how did your artistic path begin?
I am an architect and I have been loved drawing since I was a child. My research evolved definitely in a practice in 2000, when I visited Barcelona and had the chance to observe Gaudí work. Then I felt the urgent need to paint on canvas and on wood.
How it is possible to describe contemporary art’s horizon nowadays? Multiplicity of forms and a melting of languages can be seen as a valuable aspect or a confusing element throughout the definition process of the author’s artistic identity?
Everything is art nowadays and this inclusiveness is confusing, so I perceive my artistic path going on apart.
The project, the idea, come before the artwork or within it, as it is taking shape?
The idea comes for first, but it takes shape while I’m working.
What is your perspective on the art market? Do you think it is important to know precisely how it works?
I really would like to be able to paint without thinking about the market at all.
What is your relation with the potential public? How do you feel about the eye of the observer?
I think that the real chance to grow through the personal practice and the gratification comes directly from the people.
What is your favorite artwork among the selected ones?
I think that the selected artworks are good pieces, characteristic of this particular stage of my results and creative efforts.
What kind of techniques are you most interested in?
Tactile acrylic.
Who are the contemporary artists you consider the closest to your inspiration? Who are the ones you appreciate most?
I appreciate various artists and styles but personally I feel very close to Klee poetics.
