Katherine Lubar è nata a Washington DC, USA.
Katherine Lubar was born in Washington DC, USA. She grew up in Dallas, Texas, but since 1993 she has been living and working in London.
Her studies and specialized training include both art and music.
Over the past ten years she has exhibited her work extensively in Europe and in USA, showing her paintings in international art galleries and public and private locations. Her work is included in the permanent collections of the Department of Education and Employment in the United Kingdom and the Musem of Geometric and MADI Art in the United States.
Lubar’s visual research is influenced by living in England and being grown in the U.S., a double dimension that the observer can sense in her artworks.
The strong light that determines profiles of flat shapes and their sharp projections, and the constant presence of man-made structures and objects are the results of the period she spent in Dallas, where the blinding light, accentuated by the presence of modern buildings and their shadows defined by straight, precise lines, is a constant feature. Reworking on this factor seems to produce the hallmark that defines the artistic research of the author, creating a strong stylistic coherence. Another important aspect of the work of Katherine Lubar is indisputably the chromatic research, developed through the exploration of color relationships, placed playing with the prospective rules suggesting alternatively flatness and depth.
